Agreement or public signing link: which to use

Send one document to named signers, or share one link that anyone can sign.

Updated November 7, 2026

Sign offers two kinds of document. Choose when you start a new document.

Agreement

  • One PDF, sent to up to 5 named recipients.
  • Everyone signs the same copy.
  • Everyone gets the completed copy when the last person signs.
  • Best for contracts, service agreements and engagement letters.

Document (public link)

  • One link that anyone you give it to can open.
  • Each person signs and gets their own copy.
  • Best for consent forms, policies and acknowledgments that many people sign.

Find your signing links

On the Signatures page, public link documents are listed with a Copy public link action, so you can share the link again at any time.

Common questions

Can more than 5 people sign an agreement?
